Terms of admission:

 

The Bibliothèque Littéraire Jacques Doucet is a last resort, cultural heritage library.

To use our reading rooms for the fist time you must register for a reader's pass and provide proof of scholar, professional, or personal research, requiring the use of the materials conserved at the BLJD.

Readers passes or annual cards must be requested in-house at the reading room (8 place du Panthéon, 2nd floor), Monday to Friday, from 14.00 to 18.00, after an interview with a librarian. Please bring the following documents:

 

     a goverment-issued photo ID;

     for annual cards, a recent photography and a 20 euros bill or cheque;

•     for scholar's research (students, PhD candidates), a certificate from your tutor;

•     for professional research, a professional card or a letter from your employer;

     for personal research, a cover letter.

 

The library is also accessible to professors, researchers, students from l’Ecole des Chartes, Institut National du Patrimoine, ENSSIB, ENS and members of cultural institutions upon presentation of a professional card.

No pass is delivered by mail.

Consulting terms:

 

The library has two reading rooms:

The reading room at 10, place du Panthéon (access by the Bibliothèque Sainte Geneviève's special collections room).

The reading room at the 8, place du Panthéon (2nd floor).

According to the requested documents' pressmarks, the reader will have to go in one or the other reading room.

 

You cannot request more than 10 documents per day. Place reservations and requests must be filed on site or by email at doucet@bljd.sorbonne.fr, no later than the day before. Manuscripts and letters might be subject to third-party rights and cannot be consulted without the author’s heirs' written permission.
